I thought it might be nice to provide a little background information on the primary subjects of my photos for those who read my posts on a regular basis.
Tweed
Tweed has been a member of my family since August of 2007. I bought him from a woman in New York who had been competing him at Training level, but no longer had the time to compete him to his full potential. Tweed spent my first year and a half of college in Virginia with me before being sold to a lovely woman and her daughter in March of 2010.
Ben
Ben has been in the family since Sptember of 2005. He raced as a 2 and 3 year old, and then did A-Circuit Jumpers until I got him when he was 16. I spent 2 years competing with him and we competed up through Training level. He is now retired, living with me in Virginia.
Dyna
Dyna was my competition mare for the first 2 years that I competed. She took me through Beginner-Novice and Novice level before developing severe TMJ. She was treated for it, but after that she didn't want to jump anymore. Now she lives at home, leading our small herd of four horses.
Thunder
Thunder was my first horse. I got him as a 3 year old. He was going to be my first Eventing horse, but he developed severe DJD as a 5 year old. He spent the next 18 months in a pasture on joint supplements, and he hasn't been lame a day since. I ride him at home whenever I get the chance. We even jump a little from time to time. He is one of the most loving animals I have ever met.
Magic
My family bought Magic as an unborn foal. Along with partial training as a halter horse and a carriage horse, he was trained as a reining horse. Eventually my family made the decision to geld him and bring him home, where I trained him to do dressage and jump. Now he lives at home with Dyna and Thunder, and I ride him when I have the time. I still love to get on him bareback and do spins and slide stops.
Ginger
Ginger is my sister's horse. I rode her mother in a few schooling shows before we bought Ginger. I also rode Ginger in one Beginner-Novice level event at the end of 2005. She completes the herd of four at my house.
Shawnee
Rest In Peace. Shawnee was the first horse I ever rode. When I turned 10 my family acquired Shawnee as our own. She lived out the rest of her days at my house, sleeping in the sun under her favorite tree in the back pasture.
Shawnee was such a great horse! I remember my first time riding her! Thanks Jess for all the fun times I had with all your herd of horses! Have Fun in college, see you soon! :)
